Case Study

20 Properties in the Next 3 Years

Gail and William caught the buy-to-let bug back in 2003 after a property Gail had bought in Guildford saw significant returns. Since then they have bought property through estate agents, developers, property clubs and most recently through Property for life’s Private Label scheme. Of all of them they have found Property for Life the easiest to deal with.

“We use Private Label because we like the ease of the process. We prefer new build property and have bought directly from developers before but found the process nothing but trouble. We managed to get a small discount but nothing like the discounts we receive through out Private Label purchases. From these alone we have achieved instant equity of around a quarter of a million pounds!”

Since selling off his business in August 2006 William has become a full time property investor and spends his time renovating property and looking after his and Gail’s 13 buy-to-lets. Gail uses her spare time to keep on top of their investments as she works for Property for life as Finance Manager full time. It was actually Gail’s interview with the company which first opened their eyes to the benefits of Private Label.

“I came across Private Label when I was researching the company for my interview. I knew straight away that this opportunity was just what we were looking for. We have an investing plan that most would aim for over 10 years, but as we are approaching retirement age we are squeezing this into just 3. Buying through Private Label has allowed us to do just this. Because of the way the deals are structured we can invest with very low money down, something which is important when building up a portfolio quickly.”

Gail and William have a clear strategy for investing. They buy primarily new build apartments and houses in areas of good rental and regeneration potential. This is a strategy which is working as all of their 13 properties are let out and appreciating in value. They carry out due diligence on their purchases but also go with their gut instincts when visiting an area.

“We have always had an interest in property but hadn’t actively invested until a few years ago, generally when we get a good feeling on an area we decide to invest there. When I look at how far we have come since we started and the money we have made I think to myself, that’s not bad for a gardeners’ son and a miners daughter”

The team at Property for life wish Gail and William every success over the next 2 years and look forward to them reaching their goal, of achieving a portfolio of 20 properties in just 3 years.
